Content is king is every marketers mantra, but for a gallery of fine arts, content is the attraction.
– The design could in no way stand above the displayed art of the gallery.

The solution was to keep the design as minimal as the gallery decor, and using the carefully selected typography for contrast while keeping everything highly legible and unobtrusive.

Martin Asbæk Gallery has a staggering amount of content. Our first task would be to make sense and find a way to connect all the bits for an easier overview, but not neglecting maintainability.

By giving each curated artist their own online presence within the gallery solution, the editors can create new content or expand on existing content without creating any duplicate content. For the visitor, it becomes an exciting journey through the creative development of each artist.

Adding new, extensive content to an already content-heavy page can be quite the challenge.
By analyzing the editor’s workflow we automated a number of features that work for the editors.

The solution will automatically handle exhibition states and will promote and archive exhibitions accordingly, as well as adding references on the related artist’s presence page. – Creating an engaging journey through the individual artists’ content.

For a data-heavy solution as this, careful optimization needed to be considered at the earliest point.
We based the solution on our own WordPress theme, made for a minimal footprint while staying flexible and light on support modules.

Device optimized responsive images and lazy-loading delivers the requested content quickly with no extra effort for the editor. – All resizing and compression happen in the background at the time of upload.
